Zenith, the independent leasing and fleet management firm, has been selected by the Mears group to fund and run its 4,200-strong vehicle fleet.

Mears, the housing and care management group, manages and maintains around a million homes across the UK. It also provides in home care to the elderly and the disabled, so it has a big fleet of vehicles. In total, the firm has 3,000 light vans and 1,200 cars.

The fleet manager for Mears Group PLC, Jo Hammonds, said:

“We have moved the funding and management of our fleet to Zenith because of its ability to provide a bespoke proposition that will improve the overall condition and operational efficiency of the fleet.”

The contract is a five-year one and it makes Zenith the sole provider of fleet vehicles for Mears. It is also providing pay-on-use maintenance and fleet management for vehicles that Mears Group already own.

The fleet will be fitted with a telemetry solution, which allows for each vehicle to be tracked, as well as for diagnostic information and details to be gathered, such as fuel consumption. The data collected from the system helps with the management of the vehicles and personnel, while it can also be used to demonstrate to HM Revenue and Customs that they are commercial transportation.
